Anna, it’s hard for me to give you feedback because we’re friends and I don’t want you to think I’m just being nice. But really and truly, I LOVED this. It was so touching and the descriptions were so vivid. Especially the way you describe the boys — their small gestures and movements, the little dusty boots. I could SEE them. I think this is an amazing, strong piece of writing and I wish you so much luck with this project — and I hope you know I’m being sincere. As I read, I kept thinking, “What is THIS doing here? It belongs where people can see it.” Gorgeous work and I hope to read the rest of the book some day.
